We got on the first leg of our ferry trip from Haines to Juneau on August 13th. The Fairweather ferry was a fast ferry and traveled 43 miles per hour at 75 percent throttle. It was powered by 4 jet thrusters and was built in Connecticut and commissioned in 2004. The Columbia ferry from Juneau to Bellingham Washington could carry 941 passengers and 143 vehicles.
